Trackable QR Code Generator: Free Scan Analytics

A trackable QR code generator creates dynamic QR codes that log every scan, so you can see how many people scanned, when, where, and on what device. How a trackable QR code generator works

A static QR code stores your URL directly in the pattern. Nothing sits between the scanner and your page, so nothing can be counted. A trackable code stores a short redirect link instead. When someone scans it, the redirect records the scan and then forwards the phone to your destination. That same redirect is why you can change the destination after printing.

Every QRelix code runs through this redirect layer. There is no tracking switch to turn on and no script to add to your landing page.

What QRelix tracks on every scan

  • Total scans and unique visitors: repeat scans are separated from distinct visitors with anonymized fingerprinting.
  • Location: city, region, and country, derived from the scanner's IP.
  • Device, operating system, and browser: mobile, tablet, or desktop; iOS, Android, Windows, or macOS; Safari, Chrome, and in-app browsers.
  • Time of scan: the exact date and time, with charts by day and by hour.

Scans appear in the dashboard in real time, and a scan log lists each one. QRelix does not store names, emails, or phone numbers about scanners and sets no cookies on their devices. The analytics and scan tracking docs list every field.

How to create a trackable QR code

Setup takes a few minutes:

  • Sign up free at QRelix. No credit card.
  • Click Create New QR Code and choose a type: URL, vCard, Wi-Fi, file, maps, or a social link.
  • Enter your content, such as the landing page URL.
  • Customize the design with your colors, logo, and a module pattern. Keep the contrast high.
  • Generate and download as SVG for print, or PNG or JPG for screens.
  • Test it on an iPhone and an Android phone, then check that both scans show up in the dashboard.

A worked example: three flyers, three codes

Say you are handing out the same flyer at a gym, a coffee shop, and a farmers market. Make one code per location, all pointing to the same page, and name them Gym, Coffee, and Market. After two weeks the dashboard might show 31 scans at the gym, 9 at the coffee shop, and 4 at the market, mostly between 5 and 7 pm. Now you know where to restock flyers and when people actually read them. One shared code would have told you only that 44 scans happened.

Free plan limits and what Pro adds

The free plan has no trial timer. It includes unlimited dynamic codes, editable destinations, custom colors and logo, print-ready 300 DPI SVG downloads, and the analytics above. The limit is on scans:

  • Each free code works for its first 50 scans, then pauses until you upgrade.
  • Every free scan shows a brief QRelix-branded screen before forwarding.
  • Paused codes and their analytics are never deleted. Upgrading reactivates them with no reprint.

QRelix Pro is $5.99 a month. It makes scans unlimited, removes the QRelix screen, and adds the security suite: password protection, expiration dates, and geofencing. In the flyer example, the gym code at 31 scans in two weeks would pass 50 within the month, so that campaign needs Pro to keep running. A code on a single proposal or invoice would not. Trackable QR code questions

Can a static QR code be tracked?

No. A static code sends the phone straight to your URL with nothing in between to record the scan. You can only measure what happens on your own site afterward.

How many scans can I track for free?

50 per code, on as many codes as you like.

Can I change the destination after printing?

Yes. Edit the destination in your dashboard and every printed copy follows.

Does tracking identify the person who scanned?

No. You see location, device, and time. QRelix stores no personally identifiable information about scanners.

What happens to my codes if I cancel Pro?

Nothing is deleted. Codes go back to the free plan's rules: the QRelix screen returns and each code is limited to its first 50 scans.
