Frequently Asked Questions
Creating QR Codes
What types of QR codes can I create? 17 types: URL, Mirrored QR, File, Wi-Fi, Maps, vCard, Email, Phone, Note, Survey, App Stores, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter/X, TikTok, and LinkedIn. See QR Code Types for details on each.
Can I add my logo to a QR code? Yes. Upload it during the design step. QRelix automatically positions your logo in the center and adjusts error correction so the code remains scannable. See Customizing Your QR Code Design.
Can I change the colors? Yes. You control foreground and background colors and module patterns. Keep high contrast (dark on light) for reliable scanning. The editor warns you if contrast is too low.
How do I create a trackable QR code? Every QRelix QR code is trackable by default — there's no extra step. Just create a code and scan data starts flowing to your dashboard immediately. See Create a QR Code with Tracking for a step-by-step guide.
Dynamic Codes
Can I update a QR code after printing? Yes. All QRelix codes are dynamic — change the destination anytime without reprinting. Edit the code from your dashboard and the change takes effect immediately.
What happens when I change the URL on a QR code? The physical code stays the same. Scans after the update go to the new destination immediately. No reprinting, no delay.
Can I redirect an existing QR code to a new URL for free? If the code was created with QRelix, yes — edit the destination from your dashboard at no extra cost. If it's a static code from another platform, use QRelix's Mirrored QR type to create a dynamic, trackable copy. See Managing Your QR Codes.
Analytics & Tracking
What analytics are available? Total scans, unique visitors, location (city/country), device type, OS, browser, and time of scan — all in real time. No third-party integrations required. See Analytics & Scan Tracking.
Does QRelix store personal information? No. Analytics are aggregated and anonymized. No personally identifiable information (PII) is stored, and no cookies are placed on the scanner's device.
Can I use QR code tracking with Google Analytics? Yes. Append UTM parameters to your QR code destination URL to track the full user journey in Google Analytics alongside QRelix's scan-level data.
Security
Can I password-protect a QR code? Yes. Toggle password protection on in the Settings step during creation, or add it later from your dashboard. See Security & Access Controls.
Can I set an expiration date on a QR code? Yes. Enable Time Expiration and choose a date. You can extend or remove the expiration later without creating a new code.
Can I limit the number of scans? Yes. Set daily or total scan caps. Once the limit is reached, scanners see a limit-reached message.
Can I restrict QR code access by location? Yes. QRelix's geofencing feature lets you restrict scans to specific cities, regions, or countries. See Security & Access Controls.
Downloading & Printing
What format should I use for printing QR codes? SVG. It's a vector format that scales to any size without losing quality — from business cards to billboards. See Downloading & Printing.
Can I re-download a QR code later? Yes. Download any code from the dashboard at any time in PNG, SVG, or JPG.
What's the minimum print size for a QR code? 2 cm x 2 cm (0.8 x 0.8 in) for close-range scanning. Increase proportionally for longer scanning distances — see the size guide.
Pricing
Is there a free trial? Yes. 7-day trial with full features, no credit card required. Every code you create during the trial is fully trackable. See Dynamic QR Code Pricing.
How much does a dynamic QR code cost? Plans start at $5.99/month. Every plan includes dynamic codes, full scan tracking, design customization, and all 17 QR code types. See Dynamic QR Code Pricing for the complete breakdown.
Is there a per-scan fee? No. QRelix does not charge per scan. Your plan covers unlimited scans within your code allocation.
Can I create a free trackable QR code? Yes — during the 7-day free trial, every QR code you create includes full tracking at no cost. See Free Trackable QR Code.
Troubleshooting
My QR code won't scan. What should I do? Check these common causes: contrast is too low (use dark on light), code is too small (at least 2 cm for close range), code is obstructed or damaged, glare from a glossy surface, or the code is expired or disabled in your dashboard.
Wrong destination after updating a QR code. Clear your browser cache or try a different device. Some browsers cache redirects aggressively. Verify the URL is correct in your dashboard.
Scans aren't showing up in my analytics. Data appears in real time, so if scans aren't showing, verify the code is enabled (not disabled or expired) and that you're looking at the correct code in the dashboard.
