Image QR code generator: a QR code that looks like your picture

Upload an image and enter your link. The generator paints the code with your picture's colors, keeps it readable, and scans the result for you before you download it.

Upload your image

Drop a photo, logo, or artwork here, click to choose one, or paste it. Square images fit best.

29 by 29 squares. Shorter links make bigger squares, so more of your picture shows.

Checking that it scans...

Your image stays on your device. Nothing is uploaded.

Want a code you can edit after printing, with every scan tracked? A dynamic code stores a short link, so your picture shows even more.

Good to know

How a QR code can look like a picture and still scan

A phone reads a QR code by checking whether the middle of each small square is dark or light. The rest of each square matters much less. So the generator keeps a solid dot in the middle of every square, in a darker or lighter shade of your picture's color at that spot, and lets the picture show around it.

The three large corner squares and the thin lines between them stay solid, because phones use them to find the code. The code also uses the highest error correction level, so it still reads when part of it is hard to see.

There is always a trade between picture and scanning. Bold, simple images with clear light and dark areas work best. Busy or very dark pictures need the slider closer to scan safety. Every result is scanned in your browser, at a normal size and a small one, before you can download it.

How it works

Using the image qr code generator

  1. Step 1 of 3

    Add your image

Upload a photo, logo, or artwork, or paste one. It is cropped to a square from the center.

  2. Step 2 of 3

    Enter your link

Type the link or text the code should open. Shorter links give bigger squares, so more of the picture shows.

  3. Step 3 of 3

    Balance and download

Slide between picture and scan safety until the check says it scans, then download a large PNG and test one printed copy.

Questions

Image QR Code Generator FAQ

Can I turn any image into a QR code?
Almost any. Logos, illustrations, and photos with clear light and dark areas give the best results. Very dark or very busy images need more scan safety, and the check tells you when a result will not read.
Will an image QR code still scan?
Yes, as long as the check shows it scans. The generator scans every result at a normal size and at a small size. Still, print one copy and test it with a few phones before printing many.
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. The picture is read and the code is drawn in your browser. Nothing leaves your device.
Why does a shorter link show more of my picture?
A QR code with less data has fewer, larger squares, and each square shows a bigger patch of the picture. A dynamic QR code stores only a short link, which keeps the code simple.
Can I change the link after I print it?
Not with this code. It stores the link itself, so the link is fixed. To change where a printed code goes, or to count scans, make a dynamic QR code instead.
What size should I print an image QR code?
At least 3 cm (about 1.2 in) across for codes scanned up close, and larger the farther away people stand. Image codes need a little more room than plain black and white ones.
