How to Make a Digital Business Card With a QR Code

If you want to know how to make a digital business card, the short version is: put your contact details on a mobile page, give that page a QR code, and print the code on your paper card, badge, or email signature. Anyone who scans it can save you to their phone in one tap, and you can update your details later without reprinting. Below is the full process, plus how to set it up with a digital business card QR code on QRelix.

What a digital business card is

A digital business card is your contact information in a form a phone can use directly. Instead of someone squinting at a paper card and typing your number into their contacts, they scan a code, see your details on a clean page, and tap a button to save them.

Most digital business cards have two parts:

  • A page with your name, title, company, and every way to reach you, each one a tap away (call, email, website, directions).
  • A QR code that opens that page. The code goes anywhere people meet you: on paper cards, conference badges, slides, signs, and email footers.

The best digital business card QR code is dynamic. The printed pattern points to a short link, and the page behind it can change. A new phone number or job title then updates every card you have ever handed out.

What to include on your card

Keep it focused. A digital card is not a resume, it is the fastest route to contacting you. Include:

  • Full name exactly as you want it saved in someone's contacts.
  • Job title and company. These help people remember where they met you weeks later.
  • Phone and email. The two details people actually use.
  • Website. Your company site, portfolio, or booking page.
  • Address if people visit you, such as an office, studio, or showroom. A location block can add directions.
  • Social profiles you keep current. Two or three active ones beat a row of dormant icons.
  • A short note if it helps, such as your service area or best hours to call.

Leave out anything you would not hand to a stranger. A hosted page is public to anyone with the link.

One-tap Save contact

The feature that makes a digital card worth it is Save contact. On a QRelix business card page, that button downloads a standard contact card file, the same format phones use to share contacts with each other. iPhone and Android both open it in their contacts app, with your name, title, company, phone, email, and website filled in.

That one tap is the difference between "I'll look you up later" and actually being in someone's phone before the conversation ends.

How to make a digital business card, step by step

Here is how to do it in QRelix. Follow along in the business card wizard.

  1. Pick Business card. Open the QR code generator and choose the Business card tile under Hosted pages.
  2. Fill in your details. Add your name, title, company, phone, email, website, and address.
  3. Preview it. Click Preview to see the page on a phone and check that every detail reads correctly.
  4. Style the QR code. Match it to your brand colors, add a logo if you like, and finish the wizard. QRelix creates the page and the code together.
  5. Download the SVG. Use the SVG for print so the code stays sharp at small sizes.
  6. Add extras later. Open Pages in the dashboard to add social icons, a location block, or a button to book a meeting.

The hosted pages docs cover every block you can add.

Where to put your QR code business card

The page is only useful if people can reach it. Good places for the code:

  • Paper business cards. Put the code on the back with a short line like "Scan to save my contact." Print it at least 2 by 2 cm (0.8 by 0.8 inches), and leave clear space around it. The print size guide explains why.
  • Event badges and lanyards. At a trade show, a badge code saves you from running out of cards. Print it larger than on a card, since people scan from a little farther away.
  • Email signatures. Add a small PNG of the code, or simply link to your page, so people reading on a laptop can scan with their phone.
  • Slides and booth signs. End a talk with your code on screen, or put it on a booth banner sized for the distance people stand.
  • Real estate signs and leave-behinds. Anywhere you want a follow-up call, the code puts your number in the prospect's phone.

Keeping your details current

Printed cards go stale the day you change jobs, numbers, or titles. A dynamic card does not. Open Pages, click your card, change the detail, and click Save. Everyone who scans your old card from that point on sees the new version. The code itself never changes, so the cards in strangers' wallets keep working.

A few habits help:

  • Check your card every quarter. Make sure links still work and your title is right.
  • Use the analytics. The page's Analytics tab shows views, how many came from scans, and what people tapped, including contact saves. A spike after a conference tells you the badge did its job.

Digital business cards for a whole team

Sales teams, real estate offices, and agencies usually want a card for every person. Each person gets their own page and their own QR code, so every scan and every contact save is tracked to the right person.

On the Team plan, everyone works in one shared workspace with roles (owner, admin, editor, viewer), so an office manager can create and update cards for the whole team without sharing a login. Pages can use your Brand Kit for a consistent look, and can even live on your own domain, such as go.yourbrand.com. Setup is covered in the team workspaces docs, and our guide to a QR code generator for teams explains when a shared workspace makes sense.

Worked example: a three-agent real estate team

Imagine a small real estate team with three agents. The team lead creates a Team workspace and invites the other two agents. Each agent gets a Business card page with their name, title, phone, email, and the team's website, plus a location block for the office.

They download each code as an SVG and print it on the back of their paper cards and on their open house sign riders. When one agent gets a new mobile number, the team lead edits that page and saves. Every card already handed out now saves the new number. At the end of the month, page analytics show which agent's card drew the most contact saves after a busy weekend of open houses.

Limits and when not to use one

A digital card does not replace a handshake or a paper card for people who prefer one. Keep the paper card, just add the code to it.

Also remember that a business card page is public to anyone with the link, so do not include a home address or private number you would not print. And if you hand out cards widely, the free plan's 50-scan limit per code can arrive sooner than you expect, which is covered below.

What it costs

QRelix is free to start with no credit card. The free plan includes unlimited dynamic QR codes, full scan analytics with CSV export, editable destinations, custom colors and logo, print-ready SVG, the whole security suite, and 1 hosted page with 10 MB of files. Each free code works for its first 50 scans, then pauses until you upgrade, and free scans show a brief QRelix screen first. Nothing is ever deleted.

Pro is $5.99 a month or $59.99 a year and adds unlimited scans, no QRelix screen, unlimited hosted pages, and a Brand Kit so your card wears your logo and color. Team is $19 a month with 3 seats ($6 a month per extra seat) and adds the shared workspace with roles, custom domains, bulk creation from CSV, and up to 10 Brand Kits. See the full breakdown on the pricing page.
