How it works

How to make a venmo qr code

  1. Enter your Venmo username

Type your username from the Me tab in Venmo, with or without the @. The code links to venmo.com/u/yourusername, which opens the app when it is installed and the website when it is not.

  2. Choose colors and settings

Open the Design tab to pick a color preset or your own brand colors, set error correction, and choose the PNG size. A built-in check warns you if your colors are too close to scan reliably.

  3. Test and download

Scan the preview with your phone and check that the name and photo on the profile are yours. Then download a PNG for screens or an SVG for print. The code is made right in your browser.

  4. Optional: make it a Smart QR code

If you want to count scans, or keep the option to point the code at a new username later, create a Smart QR code at /create-qr-code. It stays editable after printing. Free plan, no credit card.

Explained

What is a venmo qr code?

A Venmo QR code opens your Venmo profile when it is scanned. The code stores the link venmo.com/u/yourusername; on a phone with Venmo installed it opens the app on your profile, and otherwise it opens the profile page in the browser. The payer then enters the amount and a note and sends the payment in Venmo as usual.

Enter your Venmo username, with or without the @. To find it, open Venmo, tap the Me tab, and look under your name. Type it exactly, because a single wrong character can open someone else's profile. If you ever change your username, any code printed with the old one stops pointing to you, so print a new code after a change.

QRelix never touches the money. The code is just a link to Venmo's own profile page; the payment happens entirely inside Venmo. Venmo also has a built-in personal code in the app, and this tool is useful when you want a print-ready PNG or SVG in your own colors for a counter, tip jar, or flyer. Print it at least 3 cm (1.2 in) wide, test-scan it with an iPhone and an Android, and confirm the profile that opens is yours before you put it out.

Use cases

Where venmo qr codes work best

  • Tip jars and counters

Tape the code to a tip jar or counter stand so customers who carry no cash can still tip. Add a short line like "Tip us on Venmo" with your username printed underneath so people can confirm they found the right profile.

  • Farmers markets and pop-up stalls

Hang a sign with the code beside your prices. Customers scan, enter the total you tell them, and show you the completed payment screen before they leave with their order.

  • Freelance and service work

Dog walkers, tutors, cleaners, and photographers can add the code to an invoice, a business card, or a leave-behind card so clients pay without asking for your username.

  • Fundraisers and team dues

Clubs, sports teams, and school groups can put the code on a sign-up sheet or flyer for dues, bake sales, and car washes. Put the requested amount and what it is for right next to the code.

  • Splitting costs with friends

Drop the PNG in a group chat or print it for a shared house so roommates and friends pay their share of rent, utilities, or a trip without searching for you in the app.

Static or Smart

Static venmo qr code or Smart QR code?

What the free code on this page does, and what a QRelix Smart QR code adds.

  • A static Venmo code stores your profile link itself, so it never expires and has no scan limit, but the username is fixed: if you change it, every printed copy points to the old one.
  • Static codes record nothing, so you cannot see how often the tip jar sign is scanned compared with the menu board.
  • A Smart QR code from QRelix encodes a short QRelix link you can redirect at any time and logs every scan with time, device, browser, and approximate location. It never handles payments; it only opens Venmo.
  • The free plan includes unlimited Smart QR codes and the full analytics dashboard. Each code gets 20 scans a month and shows a brief QRelix screen before forwarding; Pro lifts both for $5.99 a month.

FAQ

Venmo QR Code questions

How do I make a QR code for my Venmo?
Type your Venmo username into the field above, scan the preview to confirm it opens your profile, and download the PNG or SVG. The code links to venmo.com/u/yourusername. It is free, needs no account, and is generated in your browser.
Can a Venmo QR code include a set amount?
No. This code opens your Venmo profile, and the payer types the amount and a note before sending. If you sell at fixed prices, print the price next to the code, and ask customers to show you the completed payment before they go.
Where do I find my Venmo username?
Open Venmo and tap the Me tab. Your username appears under your name, starting with @. Enter it here with or without the @, and double-check the spelling, since a typo can lead to a different person's profile.
Is it safe to put a Venmo QR code on my counter?
The code only opens your public profile; it cannot take money from anyone. The main risk is someone covering your code with a sticker of their own, so check printed codes regularly, use a laminated or tamper-evident sign, and replace anything that looks altered. Print your username under the code so payers can confirm they are paying the right name before they send.
What happens if I change my Venmo username?
A static code stores the username in the link, so printed codes keep opening the old username, which may no longer be you. Make and print a new code after any change. A Smart QR code from /create-qr-code can be pointed at the new username without reprinting.
Does the code work for people without the Venmo app?
Yes, the code opens your profile on the Venmo website when the app is not installed. To actually send money, the payer needs a Venmo account. Test with an iPhone and an Android, one with the app and one without.
Does QRelix process or see my Venmo payments?
No. QRelix only generates the image. The code is a plain link to your Venmo profile, and every payment happens inside Venmo. The code is made in your browser, and there is no account to create.
